Fainting Goats
Also known as Myotonic Goats, these guys are lots of fun!
Sal, our first Fainter, used to enjoy putting
this bucket on his head as a young wether.

Dixie in a full faint!
The Tennessee Fainting Goat can be traced back to the 1880's and is so named as a
result of the breed's characteristic condition - myotonia congenita - which causes the
muscles to contract and the goat to stiffen or fall down when startled or excited.  This
"faint" usually only lasts a few seconds.
Fainting goats are generally hardy and
make great mothers.

The majority of births are twins although
triplets are not uncommon.  Some goats
have single births, and quadruplets occur
on rare occasions.

Fainter kids love to play, and many will
master the art of jumping on mama's back.
They love to eat hay - even when it belongs to the donkeys!
